1929 hudson super six trim

at the bottom of the center piller there is a stamped piece covering the trim. i removed the two small screws but i cannot remove it, it seems to be trapped under the heads of two large flat head screws which i believe are body mount bolts, should this part be removable? why the 2 small screws if not to secure this stamping.I would like to remove it instead of trying to put my newly covered center trim in by trying to jam it into place behind it at the bottom. thank you.
