6 volt coils
Hi all--- Can anyone tell me the difference in coils between 6 & 8 cylinder cars? A parts person said there is a difference, but he did not know what? Also still looking for the owner of the dark blue 49 Commodore with Maryland plates showing on the cover of the Sept./Oct. W.T.N.? Thanks for your time & trouble.---Cliff Minard---

Cliff, I expect the difference in the 6 and 8 cyl. coils is likely to be just a little more powerful windings on the 8-cyl version, to make up for the reduced "time between cylinders" at a given rpm. But the difference is not all that big, so I think you'd be hard pressed to detect any difference in performance of you were to use the "wrong" one.0

Just buy any 6 volt coil as they are all the same. Just look at the volts they deliver to the spark plugs. They work on 6 and 8 cylinder cars. Walt0
