Were StepDowns equipped with a radiator overflow canister or left to dump on the ground ? Thanks , J.R.

The large top tank on the old cars WAS the overflow tank. You would normally only fill that top tank about halfway so that the water had room to expand. No coolant was lost. My '49 will go years without adding.

A friend made me one out of an old small propane tank, the hand held kind. Looks factory and fit nicely on the passenger side of the radiator.Works great.

The original radiator needs a core,"700.00$" ouch,so for now i am running a custom built radiator that i had made back when you could afford it, by Griffin for my Big Block 49 Ford pick up,same dimensionally. If it had an original overflow i would try to find one,but since it does'nt i am free to use my imagination. I want some Karma J.R.

Ouch is right! That's ridiculous.:woohoo: The last radiator I took in (fixin' to take in another one) was right around $400 and that was even making it into a 4-core as opposed to the stock 3. There's gotta be a cheaper radiator shop somewhere in your neck of the woods, I'd bet.
