Hornet vs Pacemaker

Just questionning myself...But I can't find the answer. I'm sure you can help. The bidding on that 50 Pacemaker convertible ended at $1245.01 and was a no sale. Is it because of the condition? ( It seemed quite complete with- I admit it- my not so much experience). Or is it because it was simply a Pacemaker? I imagine if it would have been a 51 Hornet convertible in the same condition, it would have fetch more, but so much more? Would like to get your advice on that point. Thanks guys!

This is the car I was talking about a few weeks ago before he put it on E-Bay. The link from skiforlife65 is good. Michel

Over the years I've seen convert's like this one go for 8-12k...given todays economy/car market - I'd bet the reserve is at least 6k.0

When I see a step-down that has the quarters rusted out over the wheel wells like that, and the last foot or so of rockers completely rusted off and gone! Expect some major frame/rust repair. Or transplant the convertible stuff to a more solid car.
But, looks like the top bows are there. Unaltered car, mostly complete. hmm?:)0 -
To all! Thanks for all the replies. This is the way I found to learn more and more on the stepdowns before beginning the resto of my 54. The more I read on the topics, the more I learn. Thnaks again guys! Michel0

Hello Michel
I once started from the first post and started reading some of them every day up to the present. Alot of interesting information to be found if you are inclined.
But it do take time. Happy hunting.

Thanks Lee. That's a good tip. Reading 2 or 3 topics a day ( glad I'm a fast reader)it could be done within 1 year. Sometimes I read topics I don't understand very well ( like those lately on very technical subjects like how to beef up displacement) but I learn anyway and I am always amazed on how the guys here have a great knowledge. Wish one of them would be my neighbour. MichelLee ODell wrote:Hello Michel
