Drive Your Hudson Day
In addition to our Hudsons I have a '62 Triumph TR-4. I received an email from the local "Tri-State Triumphs" group on the Greater-Cincinnati area that was promoting "Drive Your Triumph Day" on February 10th, the birthday of Sir John Black, former chairman of Triumph-Standard. I thought if the Triumph folks can do it, why not our HET Club?
So, I did some scouting about and learned that both Roy Chapin Sr., the de facto leader of the group that founded the Hudson Motor Car Co., and Merrit Marks, founder of our beloved Hudson-Essex-Terraplane Club share February 23rd as their birthday! So there you have it, the makings of our first "Drive Your Hudson Day". Let's make this a new HET annual tradition! Is February ideal Hudson driving weather? Depending on where you live, possibly not. I know we've got nearly a foot of snow still on the ground. But each of us can do what makes sense. No one is asking or expecting anyone to take their vintage Hudson out on snowy or salty roads. Even a driveway photo with your local story would be worthwhile and appreciated! So, fire up your HET on February 23rd, get a photo or two, and share your photos and stories here within the forum! BTW, I got an email from both Larry Kennedy and Sheldon Rody with news that the Studebaker Driver's Club has been conducting a "Drive Your Studebaker Day" for several years.

Here's a poetic tribute to our celebration of the 1st Annual "Drive Your Hudson Day" in Warren County, Ohio.
‘Twas “Drive Your Hudson Day”, when I pulled back the covers,
I ran to the window and threw back the shutters!
Gazing through haze as I stifled a yawn,
I was stunned when I saw it! There was snow on the lawn!
Grabbing my coat, and grasping for shoes,
I ran to the roadway. “There’s no time to lose!”
The pavement was littered with freshly strewn salt.
“Fight back the tears Greg, it isn’t your fault.”
“Off to the garage man”!, I jogged as I fought.
“I’m not giving up on my Hudsons”, I thought.
“Be careful,” Lynn shouted. “You might slip and fall!”
“A drive on your driveway beats no drive at all!!!”
The Hudsons still slumbered in their winter quarters,
But rousing they did as I barked out new orders.
“On Hornet, on Pickup, on Commodore too”!
“ Awake little Pacemaker, I’ve chosen YOU”!!!
I pumped at the throttle and turned the key clockwise,
I pushed the “start” button, and gazed toward the skies.
Away like a six-volt , the flat-head then cranked.
It roared to life, and Dear God deserved thanks.
Out onto the driveway, through freshly lain snow.
The car emerged brightly, “It’s a Pacemaker Show!”
Roy and Meritt gazed down on this car they’d promoted,
See the Hudsons, the Essex’, the Terraplanes you’ve “G.O.A.T.”ed!
The Pacemaker rumbled toward shelter once more,
It paused for a moment to pass oil on my floor.
We’d honored our founders, their names we did call!
A drive on your driveway beats no drive at all.

No snow here but it was a cold day. But drive your Hudson day it was a drive my Hudson I did.
I stopped by American Legion post 137 as a veteran myself I felt it be proper to get a shot with our nations flag in the background and give the other vets a chance to see the 39.
