I'm sorry to report the death of Bill Hafker, 58, H-E-T member who lived in Donnelly, Minn., on Sept. 25 after a three-year illness. Bill and his wife Judy were NEC members residing in Cape Cod, Mass., who moved to Donnelly several years ago. I was fortunate to be one of Bill's many friends and (despite the distance from here to Minnesota) we saw one other on many occasions over the years. It was a pleasure to know him and it's difficult to believe he's gone.

Here is a link to his obituary. http://www.pedersenfh.com/obituary/William-Arthur-Hafker-III/Donnelly/1115923

One of my greatest memories about Bill was the very first National meet I was able to attend in York, PA. I was going to the banquet, but cousin TK (Hinegardner - also gone) convinced me I should go to an all-you-can-eat place nearby (Bill was an expert at finding those places). I walked into the place with TK, Charley Woodruff, the late Lou Backus, Bill and me - and the management took one look at Lou and Bill and nearly had heart attacks - both were BIG boys over six feet tall!!! LOL We had our meal, a member from New York joined us (leaving his wife at their table - she did join us) and along about 9 or so the management was trying to close up, but we were all still there - along with our waitress who was sitting next to TK listening to all his Hudson stories.
A good friend gone way to soon. You will be missed Bill - as Uncle Mike Elwell, who is waiting with others for you, would say Safe Journey Home.
