Does anyone know if Kgap is open for business? Any of the So. Cal Hudson members know the family and can call or go by to check? Their website doesn't work right now.
That being said I have never had a problem with them. The last order I e-mailed to make sure it was in stock and when ordered it arrived promply.
Those people who didn't get their parts should contact them with an order number and paypal recreipt number. Maybe it was overlooked, no business is perfect. When I order anything I make sure I have copies of all orders and payments. Don't forget some things get lost in the mail.

  • I hope they're in business as I sent them a check for $58.00 last week for three items listed in their online catalog.

    Hello,

In one month, it will be three years that I have been waiting for parts from an order I placed (and paid for in full) with K-GAP on October 9, 2009. The remaining balance on these parts is $340.50. I have spoken on the phone, left phone messages, attempted to leave phone messages and sent emails over the past three years. I have resorted to correspondence solely by e-mail for the past year and a half, so I would at least have some record, some proof, of my attempts to get the parts or a refund of the remaining balance.

In my e-mails, I have asked for a refund of the remaining balance if the parts aren't available, or can't be shipped within thirty days of the e-mail. I have tried to be fair, to cut K-GAP some slack, to be patient. I have been happy with the parts of the order that I did receive, and I have let K-GAP know that. I have been polite in my contact with K-GAP. And yet here I am.

My last attempt was in mid-July 2012 (yes, I am aware of what they were going through at that time), and I received a reply that I would receive one of the parts (running board covers) and a refund for the other part (a shifter knob) within 10 days of July 16, 2012 (the actual quote was "no later than 10 days"). As of today, still no parts or refund, nor any communication from K-GAP. I see the threads on this Forum about people currently ordering parts from K-GAP, and receiving them quickly, and I wonder - how can that be?

I sent off another e-mail this morning asking for a refund of the remaining balance of my nearly three year old order. I want a refund, period. I am sure there will be posters who say just give K-GAP a chance, they are good people, a needed busines for the Hudson community. Posters who will say they have ordered from K-GAP recently and received their parts quickly, with no problems. And still I wait.

    Take care,

    Steve Bryson
  • That is probably what happened to their Pay-Pal. I waited a year, and had payed with Pay-Pal, filed a complaint and got a nasty note from them and my money back though Pay- Pal. Got some things from Metro. Still need a few things they offer, but who knows?
  • I had a similar experience, not quite as long of a wait tho.... I myself have a mail order business so I understand how these things should work and it's not that difficult. If you take someones money, send the goods, if you don't have them, refund the money till you have the items in stock. Period. No exceptions, and no tired old excuses. If I were you, after all this time, I'd quit being the "nice guy" and file a claim through Paypal (if thats how you paid) or If you sent money through the post office I'd investigate mail fraud charges. Personally I will never do business with K-Gap again, because I too gave them every benefit of the doubt and was treated like I was the bad guy when all I wanted were the parts I had paid for (and waited for) for over a year....
  • Steve, I'm sorry to hear about your situation with K-Gap. Hope it's resolved soon. I recently purchased from K-Gap two decals/stickers (battery and Hudson hydraulic jack) and a rear engine mount. I sent them a check for the full amount plus shipping on Aug. 28, 2012 and received the three items under a month later on Sept. 21.

Re Paypal protest, don't waste your time. If the time between initial payment and now is more than 60 days, Paypal won't do anything, regardless of the circumstances. For the most part, their so-called payment protection guarantee is so full of exceptions you'd be hard pressed to ever get your money back.

That's why I like to pay by direct credit card whenever I can.. seems like the card issuers have a bit more leverage.

Me don' know mon. I sure as hell couldn't do business online like they are doing. I don't (usually) let an email that requires an answer to go beyond next day (mainly because at my age I'd probably forget I got it, much less answered it.
The way you do mail order is: (1) you get an order, with payment; (2) you as quickly as possible (and I mean within 24 hours) check your stock and proceed as follows: (2a) if the item is in stock you send it out within 48 hours, unless the house is 12 feet underwater due to flood or the roads are washed out or (2b) if the item is out of stock immediately inform the buyer of that fact and ask if they wish to wait (and give them a solid expect item time, if possible) or would they like their payment refunded. At that point you, in the card file you should have started you put their order and it's status - if if the payment is refunded.
It ain't hard folks. Just takes maybe an hour, at the most two hours, unless you've just hit a bonanza and 50 orders flooded in at the same time.

That's the way I see it. I've sold manuals and due to my policy of once a week shipping I would inform the buyer that "your check (or whatever) came today (Monday, for example) and my mailing day is Fridays. Will email when I send it out." Then come Friday as soon as I get home from the post office an email goes out to the buyer "On the way". Yes, I'm retired so it's easier for me than somebody that's working for a living. But there are ways around that.

Well I need quite a bit of stuff, around $1k worth but I don't trust them so I'm not willing to order. I just wish they'd decide they'd had enough so someone else could have a go. I wonder why they bother with all the grief they get.

THERE MUST BE SOMEONE IN THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CHAPTER OF HET WHO POSSIBLY COULD ACT AS A MIDDLEMAN WITH K-GAP....AFTERALL RIVERSIDE IS NOT OUT IN THE OZARKS..
    IT COULD WORK LIKE THIS....

    1. SEND YOUR LIST OF NEEDS TO THIS PERSON
    2. ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK THIS PERSON TAKES THE REQUESTS DIRECTLY TO K-GAP LOCATION AND CHECKS AVAILABILITY OF ITEMS.
    3. HE PURCHASES JUST THE ITEMS THEY HAVE ON HAND AND ARRANGES SHIPMENT
    4. THE BUYER IS NOTIFIED WHAT ITEMS TO EXPECT AND WHEN

I'm sure that some sort of compensation could easily be worked out between buyer and the middle man.

I HAVE WORKED IN SALES AND PURCHASING FOR YEARS AND THIS TYPE OF ARRANGEMENT IS VERY COMMON..SIMILAR TO A DROP SHIP ARRANGEMENT
  • There is a great need of rear window seals that will except the stainless trim out in
Hudsonville. For drop downs......I know of three folks that need them just in Texas-south...

I'm really happy I came across this thread, I am making a list of things I need for my new Hudson and was considering ordering from them. Now I won't be doing that. What are some other places that I can trust to order from?

Do NOT, I repeat, Do Not send any money unless the item is in stock or you will regret it.
If it is in stock, no problem. They have stuff on backorder for months. If you send any money for stuff that is not in stock, you have been warned. No feeling sorry for you.
  • raidmagicverizonnet , there is not realy other options thats the problem. For years K-Gap was the main supplier of Hudson rubber and plastic items amoung other things. And when the original owners retired .. .. .. Well I'll just say the Hudson world just has not been the same since,
