54 hornet rear window seal

having a difficult time finding this seal. contacted k-gap and they are on back order and last two calls to them went to message, not returning my calls. I know some one out there has this seal in their parts stash or knows another vender that might have this seal. Just installed a new head liner and need to close up the cab.

Have two used starters for an earlier Hudson where the bendex pulls in instead of out like mine does. they were in the trunk when i purchased the car last year.

    Really.....not even a single idea from anyone? This has got to be an issue with other step downs?
    Lets put this at the top of the Q and hope for a better response? zThe only seal i can find is for $308.00 and this is too much.From Pat Walsh..

    You did not say what year and model. If its a 52-54 coupe, there is a fella in Pa selling a rear glass and gasket on Ebay. The shipping is too much for me. If you can pick it up, might work. These parts once carried by Kgap are becoming scarce. It has been months since Kgap carried them. Did you try Metro?

    tried Metro, no luck finding a 54 hornet,sedan, rear window seal.I wonder where K-gap gets them from?

    Does it need to be new, or would a nice used one work?

    I replaced the front seal with a seal that had sat in the trunk of the car for 15 years from the owner that I purchased the car from and it failed in short order. have a new front seal to install but before I hire a pro to install them i think it best to try to obtain a new rear seal. thanks for your responce.

    If your old seal is useable, soak it for a few days, maybe a week, in DL hand cleaner. It will soften the rubber to where it can be reinstalled again. It will become soft and pliable just like new. Of course it will stiffen up again but by that time it should have conformed to the body opening and glass. This is an old body/glass shop trick from a long time ago and yes, I've done it before, on my old '50 C6.

    What is "DL Hand Cleaner" and where would one get it?

    I believe it is Permatex dl handcleaner with lanolin and aloe... am I correct? I always used laquer thinner then Maguires natural shine. I read that a product called Varn rubber rejuvinator works. It can be purchased at print shop supply stores. Also transmission seal repair stuff like trans x might do well since its pupose is to soften seals and cause them to swell to their original size and purpose. In each case a protectant is necessary finally.

    Denatured alcohol has the same effect.

    You can also use a rubber lubricant - such as is used to mount or dismount tires from wheels
