Stepdown door dimension

I am going to install an access door in the drivers side of my enclosed hauler trailer. I presently only have a four door to help me locate where to cut the big hole. I want to be able to open a door of a two door if I should ever have one. So... How wide is the outside sheetmetal of a two door? I looked through my stock of stainless trim and had none for a two door. That would have given me what I needed. The trailer door will be about 40 inches wide, so location is critical.

    It's just under 50" Dave ... 49 3/4. A recommendation from my polling of trailer users before buying mine: Get a winch if you don't already have one. Best piece of advice I got. Get it even if you can't imagine when or why you'd need one. Sooner or later you'll be glad you did.

    Good advice. I can't even imagine how difficult it would be to try and get a disabled Hudson up that ramp door!
    I have the winch on my list. When i got the trailer, the battery for the breakaway switch was 13 years old. So I rewired the whole thing and now have a garden tractor battery inside the trailer that can power the brakes,overhead lights and a winch.The garden tractor battery was $10 cheaper than the little pissant battery in the brake system. I also have a battery tender permanently installed that stays plugged in when in storage. I have one on my flatbed open trailer and it has saved me a few battery purchases..

    If anyone else has any suggestions as to trailer mods and stuff.. speak up.

    SUPERDAVE I WOULD USE A DEEP CELL BATTERY FOR YOUR WINCH THEY HANDLE A LOUD BETTER THAN A GARDEN TRACTER BATTERY AND LAST LONGER
