    Okay, that last post was with Firefox. Let's try creaky old Internet Explorer (which I haven't used in ages).

    Hmmmm...... that took a bit longer, but the image finally loaded. Well, it seems to work!

    Rick --- which photo? The first is supposed to be a patch worn by Hudson service men, touting some sort of "five star service" Hudson offered, but I have never heard anything about this, aside of seeing it on a patch. The second is a photo taken in Argentina, where a car dealer has two or three 1937-era Hudson / Terraplane convertibles for sale. Evidently outdoor storage is not a problem, there. (When you consider shipping costs, though, it probably isn't worth buying one of these.)

    I think I still have a 5 Star wall plaque awarded to a dealer in, as I recall, either '54 or '54

    So, Pete, do you have any idea of what it was? A one- or two-year promotion by Hudson? Ever seen anything written about it?

    Thanks Scott! I remembered the 5 star program being in the Service Merchandiser, but I couldn't put my finger on what issue.

    Jon - no, it's a sales award. It was given to a small dealership in Ks. as I recall (think that was where I was when found & bought it). Looked in garage here & don't have it here, my be at Prescott home.

    Does anyone have a picture of the sign or logo by itself of the 5 star service award along with the colors that they were in? I think I'd like to reproduce one of these.

    I looked for anything 4 Star related this morning, but could see no mention of it. And if there's a picture of the 5 Star Award in colour, then it is exceptionally well hidden.

    Interesting: in the service merchandiser, page 340, is a photo of one of the signs dealers would post on the outskirts to the city. These were large metal signs, and painted, not porcelain. I have one that I salvaged about 1967 from a cornfield near Rushville, Indiana. (The farmer's wife told me that the local Hudson dealer hadn't paid rent on the sign for years, so I was welcome to take it!) I had never seen a photo of this type of sign before.

    On another point: do we know for sure that "Four Star Service" was indeed a Hudson (motor company) program? Sounds like HMCC had five, not four, stars. Is it possible this patch was worn by dealers of Hudson farm equipment (including those hand sprayers) instead?

    As I recall, the four star program came about in the late '30s. Then they updated it to a five star program in the late '40s early '50s.
